The Hon Dr Shane Reti, Minister for Science, Innovation and Technology, NZ Government

Dr Shane Reti is the Minister for Pacific Peoples, Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, Minister of Statistics and Minister for Universities. He is the MP for Whangarei.Dr Reti’s career began in family medicine and dermatology in Whangarei where he practiced for 16 years. He served three terms on the Board of the Northland DHB. He was awarded a QSM for Public Service in the 2006 New Year Honours List. In 2007 Dr Reti was named the NZ Harkness Fellow to Harvard, where he was promoted to Assistant Professor. In 2014 Dr Reti became the first Māori MP to win the Whangarei seat which he held from 2014 to 2020 and won again in 2023.
